Welcome to the Florida Power Shift site where we will share our stories and coordinate various elements of the conference that will be held in Orlando at UCF October 24-25. I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself; my name is Mandy Hancock and I am the Florida Organizer for Southern Energy Network. I am super excited about Power Shift Florida! I can't wait to meet those of you I have not yet met and am eagerly looking forward to seeing those of you I know in October~~~>
In the middle of our new administration's first 100 days, Power Shift 09 brought 12,000 young people to Washington to hold our elected officials accountable for rebuilding our economy and reclaiming our future through bold climate and clean energy policy.
Leveraging the momentum we built locally through the Campus Climate Challenge, at our first national mobilization Power Shift 07, and our electoral engagement campaign Power Vote, February 27th to March 2nd, 2009 young people from across the country converged on Washington D.C. to take a message of bold, comprehensive and immediate federal climate action to Capitol Hill.
At Power Shift, we not only delivered our message of change to our elected officials, but we strengthened the climate and clean energy movement by infusing our nation's young leaders with new ideas, skills, connections with each other, and opportunities for employment and action.
Those leaders have taken the torch and are launching Regional Power Shift Summits all across the country. These summits are sure to ignite the passion we saw last spring in Washington in thousands of young people all across the country.Geographical Scope: State Conference |
