Description
Please join us for the 13th Annual Local to Global Justice Forum & Festival: "FOOD JUSTICE " • February 28th - March 2nd, 2014

This year’s theme, Food Justice, reminds us that much of the food we eat comes with a healthy helping of oppression, pollution, and environmental damage. Corporate control and influence on the food supply serves up concerns about health, nutrition, trade justice, and loss of local food networks. We hope to host an amazing event to hear about solutions that address these issues – honoring the land and labor rights of workers and small farmers; improving the treatment of animals and ecosystems; building local food systems; replacing fast food with slow food; starting community gardens and seed saving networks; thinking about the race, environmental, gender and class issues in food production, distribution and consumption; among many other food justice solutions.

We believe the best way to solutions is to come together, to learn from each other, and to share in the work that needs to be done. To facilitate this dialogue, we are going to continue our practice of creating larger panel discussions where multiple groups share the stage in plenary-style dialogue. Our normal offering of smaller skill-shares and workshops will remain during the morning sessions.

As in past Teach-Ins, the Forum & Festival will include hands-on exhibits of permaculture practice and a biofuels workshop, activities and workshops for children and youth, and tabling from over 40 community groups. We will again feature free music and performances from a number of local artists, and our incredible free and delicious lunches and snacks.
