Description
SLAP is organizing a city-wide convergence with a series of panel discussions and workshops centered on issues related to labor. The issues we will be convering include: worker-student solidarity, a history of the labor movement, a panel on past and current campaigns, an overview of the racial politics of Boston, the organizational structure of student groups and the importance of coalition building. The objective of the convergence is to create a more cohesive activist community among students at the various campuses and to motivate students to launch campaigns for the upcoming year.
Registration will be from 9-10am, and the schedule will go until about 6pm. Breakfast will be provided by Green Mountain Coffee and area bakeries, and lunch will be provided by the Middle East. We will be having a Lunch with Labor, where we have invited union organizers and members to have lunch with students to provide a venue for an exchange of ideas and experiences. Entertainment by Witty Wiz, Bread and Roses and Andy Sellars will follow the scheduled program.
