Student PIRGs (Public Interest Research Groups)

We’re inheriting some big problems – global warming, escalating tuition costs, rising hunger and homelessness. Most of us care deeply about these problems, but where do we learn how to solve them?

Student PIRG chapters and campaigns at college campuses around the country are taking up the challenge. Working with a professional staff of advocates and organizers, we’ve learned how to not only investigate a problem and develop a practical solution – we’ve also learned how to convince the media and the public to pay attention and take action. We’ve stood up to society’s big problems, and won concrete changes for students, the environment and the community.
