Black Student Union (BSU) is a recognized university organization that was established in 1967. The purpose of the organization is to provide social and academic support to Black students attending UW-Platteville. The organization has also accepted the shared responsibility to help educate the rest of UW-Platteville as well as the Platteville community about issues affecting and influencing the success of Black students at UWP. Through speakers, cultural entertainment, and other cultural sharing events, BSU strives to create a welcoming environment to other Black students and to bring awareness to the rest of the UW-Platteville body. Some annual events hosted by BSU are: Ebony Ball Weekend in February, Soul Food Dinner each semester, and Martin Luther King, JR. Holiday Celebration.
