5610 Pacific Blvd., Suite 203 Huntington Park, California 90255 United States 323-826-9771In Southeast Los Angeles, the Youth for Environmental Justice (Youth-EJ) and Youth Action! project serves high school-aged youth from low-income, Latino communities in several cities. Located in the most densely industrial and most polluted area of Los Angeles County, these communities face high exposures to toxins from multiple sources. Started in 1997, CBE's Youth for Environmental Justice (Youth-EJ) project equips young people with critical analysis skills to interpret the social, political and environmental conditions of their communities. Youth also develop leadership through training, public speaking, campaign planning, and community organizing. Like all CBE projects, Youth-EJ seeks policy changes from government and industry that result in reduced exposure to toxins. Youth-EJ members address environmental racism through community organizing.
Youth Action Clubs are located at South Gate High School, South East High School, and Huntington Park High SchoolThis is a campus group. Geographical Scope: Metro Added on 02-27-2006 Updated on 03-01-2006 |
